As we move beyond the mid-point of 2025, we’re reminded that change is not something to respond to – it’s something to prepare for. At Santam, our job is to keep evolving with it while the focus remains on being proactive, not reactive, in how we support and protect our clients. 

This edition of the newsletter brings together a series of stories that reflect how we’re doing by making insurance work smarter, faster, and more intuitively for real life.  By adapting to change, anticipating risk and enabling our clients to make informed decisions that protect what matters most.

With the planned shutdown of 2G and 3G networks by 2027, we continue to raise awareness around tech readiness and risk mitigation to ensure our clients are prepared. But risk management isn’t just about what happens after something goes wrong. It’s about helping our clients make better decisions upfront with awareness, tools, and support that put them in control. 

That’s why we continue to emphasise proactive risk education and self-service solutions that empower our clients to take action before the risk turns into a claim. With enhancements to our WebQuote platform and the growing use of our WhatsApp and AI-powered chatbot, we’re not just digitising services but also simplifying the experience in ways that are intuitive, fast, and human.

These digital strides are backed by the same principles that have always defined us; accountability, resilience, and value for the client. Whether it’s through our data-driven approach to disaster risk reduction or community partnerships, programmes like our Partnership for Risk and Resilience (P4RR) continue to demonstrate the long-term impact of working with communities and local municipalities to build capacity where it's needed most. 

At the same time, we know that real impact happens at scale. Equally, we’re proud to uplift voices that shape our future, with programmes like The Women of the Future (WOTF) Awards. This year’s Santam WOTF Awards once again celebrates the vision, resilience, and entrepreneurship that continue to inspire meaningful change across South Africa. 

And as we build serious solutions, we also understand the value of real engagement — whether it’s connecting through lifestyle activations with consumers at Decorex SA or sparking memorable brand experiences at the Festival of Motoring. These moments remind us that insurance isn’t just about protection but also about enabling life to happen with less friction.
