What are the key definitions of the product?

  • Act of violence: A confirmed abduction or physical confinement within South Africa lasting over 24 hours. 
  • Insured persons: Those listed as dependents in the policy schedule. 
  • Immediate family: Spouse or dependent children under 19 (or under 25 in full-time education). 
  • Ransom, property, and personal effects: Not covered under this policy.

What are the policy conditions?

  • A crisis must be confirmed by an approved provider (e.g., KIMS) for benefits to apply.
  • The incident must be reported to the authorities within 48 hours, and a case number must be obtained. 
  • Failure to follow post-incident recommendations may invalidate future claims.
  •  No ransom, property loss, or personal effects are covered.
  •  Cover is subject to applicable laws and compliance with international sanctions.
