Santam does not provide cover against mechanical breakdown as part of its standard vehicle insurance benefits and services. Most vehicle manufacturers extend manufacturer warranties, service and maintenance plans and motor plans which cover a range of mechanical issues as well as vehicle service, maintenance and repair costs. We do, however, offer emergency roadside services such as towing, following a mechanical or electrical breakdown, to all Santam car insurance clients.

Santam offers vehicle insurance for a broad spectrum of specialised, modified and rebuilt vehicles, depending on the categorisation of the vehicle. We encourage you to submit a formal request for a quotation. During this process, you will be asked the necessary questions to determine if your vehicle qualifies for cover. Once all technical and risk implications, along with the associated underwriting requirements have been established, the appropriate cover solution will be proposed.

Unfortunately, Santam does not insure vehicles registered outside the Republic of South Africa. This is due to hefty import duties and deregistration procedures, as well as prohibitive costs in the event of claim settlements.
