The Santam Child Art project is an annual initiative that aims to promote the love of art among children across South Africa and Namibia. Since its inception in 1963, this project has developed into a well-recognised national platform that encourages children to express and present their thoughts and ideas in a creative manner.
Regrettably, the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown has had a massive impact on school calendars and academic programmes, resulting in a delay in the completion and submission of the artworks. After much deliberation and consultation with project partners, Santam has decided to cancel the competition for 2020.
The theme for the 2020 project, Wish upon a star, will be carried over to next year’s competition. All submissions received to date will be automatically entered into the 2021 competition. Due to its popularity and support for the annual Santam Child Art Calendar, the 2021 calendar will continue to be printed and will feature a rearranged compilation of the artworks featured in this year’s calendar.
