As families prepare to take to the open road for the festive season, Santam launches its Personal Accident Policy which provides protection to South African clients for accidents, whether on the road or elsewhere ensuring a world of certainty wherever they may be.

Santam will now provide cover in the event of death or disability following a road or other personal accident, meeting the evolving needs of its clients. Santam's solution offers consumers a great choice of cover types, and higher cover levels than previously available.

Hendri Nigrini, Santam's Executive Head: Risk Services explains, 'Santam conducted research into the exposure a client would have at the time of an accident. Once the results were unpacked, we saw the potential risk of a client being financially ruined in the event of physical harm caused by a road or personal accident. We therefore developed a new solution that brings piece of mind and comprehensive cover. '

'We already know that individuals take great care to insure their belongings, but often neglect to insure their most valuable asset, themselves. Santam's solution is a stand alone product that offers consumers greater choice of cover types to ensure that a life-changing accident doesn't change their lifestyle. Each policy is tailor-made and has the flexibility of choice in providing a family or individual option.'

Key features of Santam's Personal Accident Policy include:

• Cover is structured per insured life and not per insured vehicle.
• The Family cover option will provide additional cover requirements, but cover will be limited to the family as defined.
• Basic cover is Death and Permanent Disability following any accident, with cover options of comprehensive cover or road accident cover only.
• Sums insured range from R50 000 up to R5 million in accordance with client's age, income and choice.
• Optional covers are linked to the basic cover limits, but also in accordance with client's choice.
• Clients have the choice of comprehensive personal accident cover or cover for motor accidents only.
• All claims under this unique policy will be referred to specially trained claims handlers and assessors for finalisation, further providing clients with peace of mind during a trying time.
